What values of yours have remained the same?

Posted on Aug 18th, 2008 by Haelan : Kosmopolitan Haelan
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 18, 2008:

Laughter. My family valued laughter as the ultimate cure. No matter what happened in life if you could laugh about it afterwards, or sometimes even during the situation, you knew everything would be alright. I still value laughter, the kind that is loud, isn't held back, comes from the core, and makes your stomach and cheeks hurt!

Does God Grow Too?

Posted on Aug 17th, 2008 by Haelan : Kosmopolitan Haelan

I was just doing my usual late-night writing, reading, net-surfing routine when a question popped into my head. Does God Grow?

As usual i typed it into the search bar and came up with this article. I think it's pretty groovy.

This is just an excerpt, I'll post the link to the full article at the end of this.

It may seem a semantic diversion to assert that rather than becoming what we currently are not, we are instead unfolding more of what we already are. Yet the prospect of unfolding more of our eternal being, rather than becoming other than our present being, is far more than an exercise in semantic antics.

  • "Becoming" denotes strife for greater completion, while "unfolding" allows for the cosmos to be eternally complete, whole and perfect at all times.
  • "Becoming" implies movement toward an eventual state of being, while "unfolding" signifies movement in, of or from a state of being that already exists.

For example, the emergence of the rosebud from the bush is the rose becoming more of what it is, not other than what it is. It is this process of emergence, this "coming out" or "showing forth" of what already exists-the emergence of bush from seed or graft, of bud from bush, of blossom from bud, of seed from blossom, and so on ad infinitum-it is this ever-cycling and recycling unfoldment from within that we commonly call "growth," and which is always evidenced as change.

We are forever, always and only unfolding, thus becoming-if we must use that word-more of what we always have been. "'I am Alpha [that which was potential in the beginning] and Omega [potential fully realized], saith the Lord.'" Our demonstrations can never exhaust our potential because it is God within us that is eternally unfolding as us.

We are right now, as a species, in what could be called the rosebud stage of human consciousness. We are whole, complete and perfect expressions of humankind at its present stage of development, just as the rosebud is a whole, complete and perfect expression of roseness as a bud. We are whole, complete, perfect . . . yet eternally unfinished! And like the unfinished rose that exists just now as a bud, we ourselves are about to blossom into a fuller expression of our being-both collectively as a species, as well as individually.

To restate out metaphysical challenge: If it is true that "as above, so below; as within, so without"-that God is all there is, so that all that is, is God-how can we emerge, unfold and thus grow God in expression if the God thus expressed is not also growing?

What was, or is, your dream career?

Posted on Aug 15th, 2008 by Haelan : Kosmopolitan Haelan
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 15, 2008:

Full-time Healer. I think Nursing will allow me to do this, and some day I hope to specialize in Mental Health because I love Psychology, and Holistic Nursing because I am passionate about Complimentary and Alternative Medicine. Maybe towards the end of my Nursing Career I will do Hospice care. But yeah, my dream is to be a Nurse (which i am currently going to school for).

"As soon as man awakens for a moment and opens his
eyes, all the forces that caused him to fall asleep begin to
act upon him with tenfold energy and he immediately
falls asleep again, very often dreaming that he is awake
or is awakening.

How Can We Define Truth?

Posted on Aug 14th, 2008 by Haelan : Kosmopolitan Haelan
In today's world, many people are asking the question, "What is truth?" What is implied in this question is either that a person is asking for a reasonable definition for the meaning of "truth," or that a person is relying on relativism as a definition for "truth," which makes the assumption that no real truth can be known, or in other words that truth is only valid on a subjective basis, that the meaning of truth is different for every person, and that no real objective truth exists that can be known. But, if any real truth does exist, it must be more than any subjective truth, because truth, by the very nature of its name, is defined as "conformity to fact or actuality," or in other words as "that which conforms to reality." Now, lets look at a hypothetical situation in order to understand this. Lets say that a person believes that they can fly, and lets say that they are allowed to jump from a plane without a parachute in order to prove their belief. Now, for this person, his "truth," as some might say, is that he can fly like a bird. In this case, the word "truth" can be replaced by the word "belief" because that is exactly what is implied by the useage of the word in the sentence. In other words, to say that his "truth" is that he can fly, is the same as to say that his "belief" is that he can fly. In this case, "truth" is reduced from its definition of "that which conforms to reality" to "that which is believed to conform to reality," whether it actually does so or not. Now, in the case of the person who thinks he can fly, there is a truth which "conforms to reality" that overrides his belief that he can fly, and this truth is known as gravity! The laws of physics, therefore, are a truth in reality which cannot be denied by a mere belief that humans can fly. So, truth is more than a belief in something, truth exists in reality by itself whether it is believed to exist or not.

Our website, "Truth /Defined/," is based upon the fact that truth exists, and that it has a valid definition: As that which "conforms to reality."

An Ode to Dreamers

Posted on Aug 4th, 2008 by Haelan : Kosmopolitan Haelan

when dreamers dream
and lovers love
do they receive their visions from heaven above?
or do they originate
where all things start
within our minds
within our hearts?
i know not all
but what i do know is this
you cannot build a kingdom
upon a flimsy wish
so believe in your dreams
follow them blind
lest you lose them all,
to the hands of time

What techniques do you use to help people get along?

I try to help them see the other person's point of view. When you try to walk in someone else's shoes or empathize with them it can totally change the way you think and feel about any difficulties within the relationship. The 3-2-1 Process has helped me to have an even deeper understanding of the power of seeing things from other points of view. I highly recommend it.

How do you express gratitude?

Posted on Jul 28th, 2008 by Haelan : Kosmopolitan Haelan
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 28, 2008:

As a child I was taught by my mom to always say thank you, even for the littlest things. Now it has become a habit, a habit that I am happy to have. I express my gratitude by making sure i thank everyone for the things that they do. I know by the look on people's faces that those two little words can make the biggest difference in someone's day. I also express my gratitude by trying to do good things without expecting anything in return, although this is harder than it seems.
